Audio Book Perfect World Vol. 9 with Free MOBI EDITION!

Every volume of this manga is great, but this one is particularly satisfying because it wraps up the main storyline. (Apparently volume 10 is in the works, but volume 9 resolves the series' main conflicts.) Before reading volume 9, I reread the whole series and remembered again what a great story it is. Though the art quality is average and the dialogue is often clunky and exposition-heavy (at least in translation), the manga still gets a full 5 stars for it's strong characterizations and realistic emotions. Rie Aruga writes in her author's afterword that her mother had a chronic illness, so she has had long personal experience with how illness shapes family relationships. And Aruga adds almost in passing that over the course of writing this manga, she became seriously ill herself, and now uses a wheelchair. Her deep insight into the emotions surrounding chronic illness makes this a story I wish everyone could read. (Can we get a novelized version for people who think manga is too nerdy?) By the time I got to the final volume, I genuinely liked and admired the heroine, though in early volumes she seemed naive and lacking in real personality traits. And of course, I was more in love with the hero than ever. And that's the most important thing in a women's romance manga! He's dreamy!
