At last, Kaede has finally come to terms with his feelings for Sakura, and she's ready to admit that her love for her step-brother is anything but familial! Sakura and Kaede finally come to the conclusion, separately, that they're in love with other. Yes, romantically. Yes, they're step-siblings. Yes, I know, it's kinda creepy (well, come on, it is), but, this isn't some bizarre hentai (thankfully), so its being handled tenderly and lovingly. And they know what they are doing is wrong. They know it will upset heir parents, shock everyone at school (because while most of the school knows they're siblings, the whole "step" part seems to have gotten lost in translation, so to say), and they know people will look at them with contempt and derision. However, as I've said before, love is love. You can't choose who you love. You love who you love, whether it be right or wrong. So, creepiness aside, this story has been rather entertaining. Seeing Sakura go through all these wig-outs and hilarious funny faces has been so fun. I think it really hit home to her, when her friend asked, how would you feel about Kaede is he WASN'T your (step) brother? She realizes then, that she's madly in love with him. And he with her. So, they do what any two reasonable step-siblings do in a situation like this (warning, sarcasm alert), they decide to secretly date, and try to hold off "going all the way" until they graduate, with the implication that they then can run off together to a place where no ones knows the truth, and they can live happily-ever-after. Yes, very reasonable (rolls eyes). Anyway, these two do grow much closer, and spend time sitting together, laying together (fully clothed), and even a little cuddling. So, now what? That remains to be seen. The volume ends with Sakura's 16th birthday celebration (with her family), then, as the clock ticks past midnight, Sakura sits alone on her bed, picks up her phone... and calls Kaede, to wish HIM happy birthday... now they're both 16. They're both legal, relationship-wise... how will that fact affect these two confused lovers? I suspect we are in for some surprises next volume, folks! I mean, come on, it's been 6 volumes, and nothing overly dramatic or negative has happened, in relation to these two love-birds... (cue ominous music). Then again, what possibly could go wrong? (Wink). By the by, if you like stories about forbidden love between step-siblings, I STRONGLY recommend you check out the classic, and infamous, "Dome X Girl" (AKA Domestic Girlfriend), it's pretty much considered the Holy Grail of step-sibling love. Boy is it ever one heck of a soap opera! Also, a recent addition to the sub-genre is "Mint Chocolate" which is off to a good start, and already has similarities between both this series and "Dome X Girl"...
